About the IDA
The Delaware County Industrial Development Agency was formed in 1971 as a public benefit corporation under Article 18-A of the New York State General Municipal Law for the benefit of Delaware County and its residents. The IDA is empowered to provide financial assistance to private entities through tax incentives in order to promote the economic welfare, prosperity and recreational opportunities for its residents. The IDA is vested with broad powers including the ability to purchase, sell, lease and/or mortgage real property and to borrow and lend money in connection with IDA projects. However, because the IDA is a public benefit corporation, it is subject to open government laws, has limited investment powers and is not specifically empowered to make outright gifts to private enterprise.
The Board of Directors for the Delaware County IDA is comprised of seven members appointed by the Chairman of the Delaware County Board of Supervisors. Board members serve terms of three years. The current Board is comprised of:
Chairman: James Thomson
Vice Chair: Scott White
Treasurer: Robin Turner
Secretary: George Bergleitner
Members: John Meredith, Joan Lawrence-Bauer, Bill Gross
The Delaware County IDA meets the third Friday of each month at the Delaware County eCenter. Meetings are open to the public.
