U.S. EPA Lead-Based Paint Renovation Repair and Painting Rule
The Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) program is a
federal regulatory program under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(U.S. EPA) which became fully effective as of April 22, 2010. The rule
applies to residential houses, apartments, and child-occupied facilities such
as schools and day-care centers built before 1978 and requires anyone who
is paid to perform work that disturbs paint in these types of buildings to be
certified* and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
The rule affects the following trades, including but not limited to;
Building Contractors (repair and renovator)
* Painters * HVAC * Plumbers
* Carpenters * Roofer/Siding Installers * Electricians
* Residential rental property owners/managers and maintenance
