8/ 29: How to Raise Honey Bees
2pm – 4pm at the HOBART COMMUNITY CENTER, CORNELL AVENUE. Bill Parker, of family-owned Horton Hill Farms in Jefferson and popular Ag Science and 6th grade teacher at South Kortright Central Schools will present a lecture on beekeeping and making honey at home. Parker will have on hand an observation beehive to illustrate how the bees make honey. EVERYONE WELCOME. $5 SUGGESTED CONTRIBUTION.

9/5: Secrets to Baking the Perfect Apple Pie.
2pm – 4:30pm at the HOBART COMMUNITY CENTER, CORNELL AVENUE. Participants will be guided by master chef Geri Rydeout, owner of the Coffee Pot and head cook for Phoenix House. All local apples will be used. Adults and children alike will learn how to make a pie crust from scratch and how to make a perfect apple pie.EVERYONE WELCOME. $5 SUGGESTED CONTRIBUTION.

2pm – 4:30 pm at the HOBART COMMUNITY CENTER, CORNELL AVENUE. Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Delaware County Executive Director Jeanne Darling, along with Master Food Preserver Carol Brannen, will demonstrate safe food handling and the basics of canning foods with water bath and pressure canning methods of preserving fruits, vegetables, and meats. Participants will can a jar of produce as part of the class. EVERYONE WELCOME. $5 SUGGESTED CONTRIBUTION.

10/3: The Art of Maple Syrup.
2pm – 4pm at the HOBART COMMUNITY CENTER, CORNELL AVENUE. Dwayne Hill, one owner of the family-owned and operated Shaver-Hill Farms, located in Harpersfield, will lecture on how their family gathers, processes and makes Maple Syrup. The family has made Maple syrup and Maple products for decades. EVERYONE WELCOME. $5 SUGGESTED CONTRIBUTION.
